Kuskovo Estate
The Kuskovo Estate, nicknamed the Moscow Versailles due to its formal French gardens, is a perfect example of an 18th century Muscovite country residence. The history of the estate dates back to 1715, when Tsar Peter the Great awarded the village of Kuskovo to Boris Sheremetev, a Russian general who excelled at the battle of Poltava and who decided to build a summer residence there. The Sheremetyevs were one of the wealthiest and most powerful families in Russia and the estate was used by several generations of the family.
Nowadays, Kuskovo estate is an official museum of Russian architecture, ceramics and sculpture.

The Kuskovo estate in Moscow is a unique monument of arts and culture of the 18th century. The Italian House (1754-55) designed by the architect Kologrivov; built to resemble an Italian country villa of the 17th centure; It is, of course, furnished with Italian and Italianesque paintings, furnishings and sculptures.

Hello Arthur,
Thank you for sharing such wonderful pictures. Large, clear, and inviting. I hope someday to visit Count Sheremetyev's Estate, but that will have to wait until the next time I visit Russia :-)
My wife is from Omsk, but we both want to tour Moscow/ St Petersburg, etc.
