Star City
The Training Center was originated as a secret Air Force facility at the end of 50s - beginning of 60s to provide training for Russian cosmonauts. It was named as Zvezdny Gorodok (translated as Star City or Starry Town). From the beginning of 60s, the Star City consists of two parts: the training facility itself and residential area for the military and civilian personnel serving the facility, as well as cosmonauts and their families. Nowadays, NASA astronauts assigned to space station missions spend about 40% of their time training at Star City and the rest at the Johnson Space Center in Houston. Russian cosmonauts split their training much the same way.
